The only synagogue in Lisbon is situated near Rato and has been built at the very beginning of the 20th century. It is the first and only one to be built since King Manuel I’s Edict at the end of the 15th century. According to the estimation available, the Jewish community is pretty small (only a few hundred), so, no other synagogue would not, for now, be needed.
